Aluminum Driveshaft
How much do they cost, and where do you get one. How do you put it in, is it hard, and will it help stop vibration at high speeds.

I have never found one in a scrap yard or aftermarket before so somebody else will have to fill in that part. But I think that they were available in the 1LE cars, right?
They help reduce vibration at high speeds because of less rotating mass and a more accurate ballance.

Along those lines, the driveshaft is the same in all 3rd gen and 4th gen f-bodies, except the 82 and 83 cars without overdrive transmissions. In other words any 3rd gen or 4th gen driveshaft will swap to any 3rd gen or 4th gen car, regardless of automatic or manual.

I did have one problem with this swap. For some reason the yoke would not go into my T5 transmission and I had to us the yoke from my steel shaft. This required a different u-joint. I found that the rear joint will also work on the front if you need to change yokes. In a standard configuration the aluminum shafts use 2 different u-joints.
