Title says it all, I'm looking for either a black, silver/grey, or Brown Formula or Trans am. (I am aware the browns were produced as trans am in 1984) I intend to purchase after Christmas. I don't have that high of a budget, but I'm not planning on low-balling anyone, I want a hard top with cloth seats. I don't want any rust. I don't care about stains to the interior so long as there are no cracks (within reason, one or two is fine but no dash-bashers). My budget is 7k, we can talk about pricing together over Facebook or something, the interior is frankly the most important part to me. And bada-bing, bada-boom, that's my request... How'd I do?

 

Where you located? If it's in the add I missed it. Why not open the field and look for a base model in any color and paint it what you like? Just wondering☺️ like I have a factory bronze 84 base model that has been repainted over the years. Carbureted v8 with hard top. Nice interior. Even has the factory firebird floor mats. Interior is brown and very basic. I'm fixing to swap in a 89 long block. If you want to buy it I might even paint it back to the factory color

 

I mean, if you have pictures, detailed pictures, I suppose we could begin a discussion. Bearing in mind that I stated I wouldn't be able to make a purchase of any notable magnitude until after December; I am in Iowa.
And to answer why I didnt mentioned the base model... idk. I've been told V8's are nice, that and they have just that little bit extra prestige that is oh-so-desireable for young people like me. Insert "Oh, what's in a name?" here. I suppose also that the brown factory painted ones are Trans Ams, they give off this fascinating vibe that I quite like.

To answer your inquiry as to why I failed to mention the Base-model, I have a couple reasons: The most prominent... The added prestige following the title of "Formula" or "Trans Am" is a very desire-able thing for us young people... That and I was told that the Brown Birds were a 1984 Trans Am exclusive, and I don't know how much it would cost to have a good paint job done.

I'm also not sure what I'm going for here, I really like the sleek look of Silver or Black, and I feel a strange nostalgia from the brown, y'know? I know I want to upgrade the interior and install a digital dash (for fun and nostalgia )... (those dashes can be installed in any of the 3rd gens, right?

 

I don't know if you can put the digital in without making some changes. If your not sure about the color. Than you will probably be proud to have any one of them. Go for one in good running and driving conditions. Straight body with no rust. And a decent interior. That is my advice.
