You think so?
I was leaning towards a Smoked or Dark Smoked since I've never really liked the all clear look (except on silver or white cars).
Thanks for the input.
I don't want to derail so if anyone would we willing to Photoshop the picture I posted above I would really appreciate it. Just PM me with a picture once you're done. If not, I understand.
Thanks guys

I would go with smoked or dark smoked.
Clear would look out of place with the red rear brake light so close.

So what's going on w/this, is it just the lens that's getting made or is it going to be the entire housing??

LENSES ONLY
We could possibly have the full housing and lens made for $400 total...give or take. But I feel most here wont pay the $400 so they probably wont be looked into much.

What is the production status on these? I emailed them a few days ago and haven't gotten a repsonse yet. Getting ready to get the car out for the season and would like to have a set to replace my stock scuffed up lenses.

Re: Group Buy: www.KLEARZ.com Camaro Tail Lights ( Clear, Smoked, Red, DARK Smoked )
*Sigh*
As long as it takes...I dont know anything about molds for lenses so Im waiting...they'll e-mail all those who have sent a DP so when they do then you can start asking when will the full production run be made....until then we're waiting for them (as they recently had a bad product run...chemicals or something of the other). So they're getting new chemicals and will be getting back to them ASAP...
PLEASE BE PATIENT EVERYONE. I am as anxious as everyone of you, so give it some time and let them do they're thing, yes this does seem to be taking longer than expected but thats a good thing, ensuring all those with their DP's in and those without can save a little $$$ on the side for these in the future....and allow them to make the best runs possible.

chemicals typically aren't bad but if you send them a bad light to pull molds then that's a problem. i wouldn't be surprised if you don't see anything until mid or late summer... hope that i'm proven wrong though.

BUT
With the KLEARZ lenses these lenses are CLEARED then filled with black to give the smoked look, thus ridding any type of red or amber in the lens as you get when you nite-shade or even paint with the transparent paints.

Basically in a nutshell, the product I have used to make my molds for the past six years has went to crap. Once I make a mold with it, I "HAVE" to do a lens pour every 12 hours without exception or else the molds completley break down. I am currently experiementing with other products,... and I am pretty sure I've found a new "good one". Again, I just have to be sure before I make $1500+ worth of molds for the Camaro tails.
Also, there is something else I wanted to discuss. I think I am going to make the camaro tails in at least two pieces. The rounded outside end will be seperate and then the flat back will be seperate as well. I will make a flange on the two halves and then epoxy them cleanly together. I made one mold out of the crap material I am using now (and it brokedown allready). The mold is SOOO heavy that it was killing me to move it. I had a spinal chord injury a year and a half ago, and I have to be super careful with my back now. So yeah, long story short... breaking the tail into two sections will make the mold much much lighter, and will even give people a little more choice in color variations. There is a SMALL possibility that I will further break the lens into 4 pieces, so people can choose individual color combinations for the entire lens. Maybe see if you can get some feedback on that idea and what kind of interest there is.
NOTE: IT WILL BE MADE INTO A SINGLE MOLD ONCE COLOR IS FINISHED, THESE WILL NOT COME TO YOU IN 4 PIECES BUT A COMPLETE 1 PIECE LENS...SO DONT THINK YOUR GETTING PIECES YOU NEED TO GLUE TOGETHER BECAUSE YOU'RE NOT.
Once again, please pass my apologies along to everyone on this project for the delay. I am really excited to get them into production as I was/am a BIG fan of the camaros. To this day, my uncles 88 white Iroc with the Daytona hood is one of my favorite cars. We've had SUCH a huge response t our waiting list, that it is going to be a big seller for us. Just give us a little more time and we'll have them into production. Hopefully within a month, we'll be able to start sending out the first few sets.
Let me know if you have any questions.

That's great news for me. Now it looks like they may be able to do clear revearse with red or amber turns, and the rest red.
I think they will be able to sell more units having the ability to do this.

They are doing the tag lights!! And dragging out, come on you guys. Obviously he is having difficulties with the molds, I'm sure he is also keeping his business up with the other products he currently offers. Do you really expect this happen quickly? Do you guys realize what he has to do in order to make these? I would say he is still in the "R&D" stage. I'd be happy to have them by next summer. And I am the one who donated the set of taillights that he is using to make the molds. I am really excited that he is willing to take this project on.

Re: Group Buy: www.KLEARZ.com Camaro Tail Lights ( Clear, Smoked, Red, DARK Smoked )
If somebody has made molds like this on other cars and such I don't see why this would be such a problem that it is. I mean come on feels like its been years... I mean its not like we need these lenses to drive our cars but you get what I am saying.

Obviously you have no idea what it takes to make a part like this. This isn't GM churning out a million of these things, it's a small company.

how much money would you dump on something before you went broke or gave up?
im all for them..... dont get me wrong. its just all the hype and no results.
i dont know the 1st thing about setting plastic in molds, so im not saying anything derogatory towards the company.

Ok so if they are able to do multiple pieces then epoxy them together it will be possible to get lenses with clear reverse lights?
I photo shopped examples below. If they can do em like that then I'm most likely in if they are around $200.
and has there been any update as to where they're at in production? Any teaser proto-type pics yet?

I emailed today and here is the response:
Hi,
Thanks for the email. I know we've been keeping people waiting for awhile now. We have to make sure we have good material before we produce these as the molds will be VERY expensive and time consuming to make for such a big tail light. We've pretty much got our problem with bad mold materials solved. Basically,... I am waiting for a shipment of material coming from the US which we will have as of August 22nd. As of that date, I will begin making all the molds, and the first units will be available about 1-2 weeks later. Everyone has been very patient, and I appreciate it. I am going to make sure everyone gets the high quality lenses that the 80's camaros deserve after 20+ years of use. I've been a big fan of the Camaro's since I was a teenager, and cannot wait to see the impact these tails make on all those Camaros still left out there. Just try to be a little more patient,... and I can promise it will be worth your while. Thanks again for the email,... and we'll be in touch as soon as they are in production

Re: Group Buy: www.KLEARZ.com Camaro Tail Lights ( Clear, Smoked, Red, DARK Smoked )
i gotta say that besides the fact that I have 20 bucks invested in this, this company def. has my bus. Personally i would rather wait for a great product, verses getting something flashy that poops out in a year or 2.
JASON AT KLEARZ.. take your time, get it perfect, dont rush anything.

wish you guys the best. the material he needs is easily available in under a week. the type of mold he's doing though will yellow so those going clear might want to pick up an extra set and vaccum pack them somehow for a rainy day.

so not to sound like im complaining or anything (im really not) but when he said the molds will be "VERY" expensive, does that mean we take the hit as far as money goes? Im definitely for this if it works out well but i couldnt help but wonder about that, cant wait to see the results

Some or those who have sent in a $20 Down Payment will only pay $180 (Plus shipping of course) and $10 if color is wanted...
Right now he/she/KLEARZ is making 4 separate molds for each GRID COLUMN SO WE CAN HAVE CUSTOM COLOR COMBINATIONS.
This is so we can have CLEAR REVERSE and DARK SMOKED RED turn and brake lens. Instead of one single color throughout the full lens.
Give this some time as they are doing their best to get these HOW WE WANT.
