FIRST fuel injection intake GP
Re: FIRST fuel injection intake GP
I have the XFI292 in my Camaro right now, I have had no problems with my springs and its been in the car for 2 years now, I have AFR 195 Comp port heads, I was thinking of leaving it in just for a dyno comparison between the FIRST and the HSR I have on the car right now, If I like it I'll keep it in for the time being, but eventualy I do plan to drop the cam down in size because I feel the XFI292 is too big for the FIRST set-up and I plan to run boost on the car so I can get my power that way with a tad more street.
If the XFI292 is close to were I like it then I might also degree it 2deg and drop the powerband down a couple RPM (Shane you might wanna look into doing that with your XFI280)
I'd still suggest the XFI268 rollor with a 355ci or when in a truck also for the 383ci, my car has the cubes and still doesnt turn on till later in the RPM range, not sure how much of that is the HSR though. At 4000RPM its like someone hit the TURBO boost lever on one of them old TYCO remot control cars
Right now with the HSR I can flash the thing to 6500rpm in a heartbeat but I get the best 1/4mile times shifting at just over 6000rpm, again I am not sure just how much of that is the HSR though

Re: FIRST fuel injection intake GP
I'm thinking something in the 1800-5800 ish range for my cam. Theres some basic info here: http://firstfuelinjection.com/techsupport.htm but i think that there are a alot of things that could have been done alittle better to get more out of it. I seem to remember someone saying their FIRST was peaking at around 5800. But if you're not happy with the top end, there is always LOOOOTS of porting to be done!
Also, Ken wanted me to give you guys a big thanks, and to let you guys know that they are always there for ya guys if ya need help. He said if you have any questions to please ask and they will be as helpful as possible.
So thanks guys!!!

It was supposed to end on january 15th, but there is no harm in emailing him and asking I suppose. Plus if they still have the message up maybe they are still doing it.

Re: FIRST fuel injection intake GP
wow! That thing looks mean, and that color is awsome!! Maybe I should get mine in a darker red (not a fan of the firetruck red) instead of the black I had originally planned. Also, the entire FIRST is CLEARLY much larger and better flowing than a stock TPI. I'm lovin this! I definitely needa get my order in asap.
Re: FIRST fuel injection intake GP
I changed my order to black. I really like the way the edelbrock system looked in black so maybe the first will look good too. I must say that the blue looks beyond great. If I had known the paint code for my camaro I would have done the same thing. Thanks for sharing your pics!

Re: FIRST fuel injection intake GP
Very nice and clean looking car man

Re: FIRST fuel injection intake GP
Mine came in today and the base will need some porting to match my heads and some blending in the runner to plenum areas.

Re: FIRST fuel injection intake GP
My FIRST intake and AFPR arrived last night!!!
It was too cold in the garage to do much with it, but I have to say it is HUGE!!!!
The quality of the piece looks to be outstanding.
Question for those out there that have one already - what are your plans for EGR? Anyone with a corvette (I hear EGR is different on the vettes).

Re: FIRST fuel injection intake GP
Any one install theirs yet? Just curious if you like the performance from it. The pics posted look awesome. Makes me wish I would have ordered mine painted. Hawk 92 z thanks for the advise on advancing the cam, I am having a custom torque converter made for the truck, to make up a little for cam. Still crossing my fingers that I have thought this all out well enough. Planning a new engine is a little stressful to me. (want everything right and costs a lot)

If so, would you mind taking a few pictures of your throttle body linkage and explaining how you hooked it up?
My TB didn't come with any studs to hook the TV and throttle cables to, and I'd like to see how other did this.

Re: FIRST fuel injection intake GP
Hey Guys,
Here are a couple pics of this bad boy installed. Have a pic of the aeromotive 13301 APFR. I mounted it on the strut tower. Havnt figured out the throttle hookup yet. Anyone have ideas or got it working yet?

I replied in my other thread about this. Still trying to figure it out myself.
By the way, you stole my color scheme!

Here's my engine bay currently:

It's taken a while, but here a few pictures of my progress. Not done yet, still have to tighten the runners, install the plenum etc...
