I got a set of rear side panels off of ebay to use with the interior swap in the ragtop, and noticed that these were quite different than the original ones.
So, my question is - what were the changes over the years for these panels?

The stock ones only have indentation on the pass side for a "lock handle" for the rear seat back, while the spare ones I got had this on both sides.
The stock ones also had a separate black vinyl piece on top of the "arm rests", while the spare ones did not.
The stock ones also have a little plastic "cup" that curves in around the seat belts, while the spare ones only has a square hole where the seat belt sticks out. Im assuming there is supposed to be some kind of plastic insert there though, but it is still just flat whereas the stock ones were curved in.

If anyone has any info on this - that would be great.
BTW, Im not sure what year my spare ones are off of, but the stock ones are from 86.

Thanks,

Ken

The ones in my 89 sound like your 'spare' set you just got. Sort of. The arm rests in back have some sort of black plastic/vinyl type pad on there. Where the seatbelt goes through the plastic there isnt anything besides some plastic rubber around the outside of the belt. AFAIK nothing is missing.

Sounds like yours (Madmax) are kinda inbetween the two I have then?
I'll snap some pics later on today and post the ones I have.

Not a real closeup or good shot of just the panel, but this is mine:

Ok, mine are like you described with two indentations for the seat fold down handle, but there is only a handle on one side. I have no black pad or carpet on the rear section. They are completely covered in tan leather with cloth speaker grille covers.
There is an indentation for a plastic part that cleans up the hole that the seat belts come through. And there is also a courtesy light on each side that is exactly like the one in my trunk.
