SLP performance package...
I'm thinking about installing the SLP performance package upgrade on my '89 GTA.
I know SLP still offers the siamesed runners, CAI kit and catback high-flow exhaust system. However, where can you get the original style SLP tri-Y headers?
Also, do you have to cut into the factory Y-pipe to make these particular headers fit? I have the factory (N10) dual-converter option.
Thanks.

Well I know for a fact that you won't be able to get the correct SLP chip so you will have to cusotm burn one and you won't be able to get the specs from SLP because they were burned in a fire. The Tri-Y's come with the Y-Pipe and everthing is bolt-on. Make sure you get the 31008 exhaust. Good luck on finding the Tri-Y's, don't pay more than $800 for them in mint condition though. You might get lucky and find a set for around $500 though. Make also that you are getting the dual cat and not the single cat....

Thanks! I was afraid they were discontinued or something.
I remember reading about how Alex ('92GTA) was able to find some Tri-Y's for his GTA including the last two "stickers" that were applied to the radiator support area on original SLP equipped GTA's. I think he was even able to find a PROM chip also. I think he has pictures of all the original SLP performance package items on his website. From what I read on his site, the SLP rep would only let him have one of the last two (radiator core support) stickers left. Talk about getting lucky. Or maybe unlucky? I guess it's how you look at it. LOL!
I guess I'm at a crossroads here. Keep my car 100% stock or put some (GM approved) SLP performance parts on it before these parts are also discontinued later down the road.
That is, of course, if I ever get done with the restoration on it.
