factory alarm?

factory alarm?

Well on my 91 GTA it says "protected by Vehicle and Radio anti-theft sytems" on a sticker on the window. I was wondering if it came with a factory alarm? and if it did would all i need to get is the remotes so i could activate it? alright well if u know anything about this i would aprecciate the help, thanks

It's referred to as a "Vehicle Anti-Theft System" or VATS. The chip that is in your ignition key is a resistor of one of 18 different values. Without sensing this resistance, your car won't start.

No remotes, no sirens.

It is, however, an anti-theft device, and as such qualifies you for a discount from some insurance companies.

Your radio, once it is without power, needs to have a code entered into it in order for it to work.
