How many are left ?
I know that there are quite a few third gens left on todays roads but if you take for e.g. a 1988 IROC convertible that was produced in 3761 units back then, how many does everyone think remain today if you consider factors like crashes, theft, floods and what so ever ? my guess would be maybe about 1200 ? what does everybody think ?

if you had a connection with someone at the DMV, you could get a fairly accurate count, but other than that, I don't think there's a way to tell except to count how many you see and how often, and guesstimate.
I'm convinced that at least half of thirdgens are no longer w/ us. Especially 82-84; the pre-TPI cars that get slaughtered without a second thought. I base this on how often I used to see them back then compared to now.

It would be impossible to know exactly how many were still alive today, you can only guesstimate. My 1990 IROC 'vert had original production numbers of around 1,200 total. I would think that at least half of those were still on the road today, but again, there's no way of knowing, even with cars that are extremely rare. My father owns a 1928 ****** Knight Model 56, and according to the ******-Overland Knight National Registry, it is the only one on the west coast. But again, they may be others sitting in barns somewhere that are not identified in the registry, so there's no way of knowing for certain.
Getting back to the IROC, I would think that ANY car that had original production numbers less than 5,000 is not a very common car. Hang on to it!

OK,
What are the prod numbers for a 1989 Formula convertible that's got the 350 TPI auto trans?!
I haven't got numbers suggested yet from the board, and I'm surprised as well.
I wasn't thinking too much of my car, but might change my tune if I know it's value. I like it, of course

Any guesses on 83 z28 L69? There were 3,223 made and when do you ever come accross any of em. w/o getting into well mine had this picky little option. Who has seen any other 83 L69's? Those are very far and few between without saying well mine has this rear view mirror or radio. Mine is brown on brown does that mean more or less? NO. BTW has anyone seen a clean 83 L69? I have yet to see one

Camaro-Firebird, etc.
Forgive me, but my two cents only...
For me the Firebird is appealing for the flip up headlights that are seemingly standard on European exoticars. Less in the way of body extentions too. The Camaro is not bad, but somehow doesn't appeal to me in the same way.
I did notice you listing your Eldorado! Good call, and hope to get one as well...aside from the classic 84/85 drop tops. I also owned the Buick V6 3.8liter Olds Cutlass Supreme broughams (2) and although not a turbo like the Grand Nats...these cars have much potential for hot rodding...of course, GM V8s also available.
F*&k Fords hehe
