I am curious...
What were the rims available for a 1987 Trans Am? The rims I have on my car I have never seen on any other Firebird. They are diamond spoked but aren't the GTA ones. They are just machined aluminum, no paint except for like a clear coat protectant. The diamond part isn't flat like the GTA ones but curves. I don't have any pics so I am hoping somebidy knows what I am talking about. They look like rims that came with the car from the factory but I have never seen them on another car. According to my RPO codes I should have PW7: wheel, 16x8 aluminum diamond spoke; 18P: wheel color, charcoal met (91) Were there two different types of diamond spoke wheels available? Or did my car come with GTA style rims and somebody swapped them?

We need a pic. I think you have this though: http://www.gmtips.com/3rd-degree/dox...eels/86f/5.gif
They are kind of rare, but then again they are not sought after. My 85 Firebird had them in 15X7 form. that is, until I lost them.. don't ask :P

I concur. I'd have to guess you have the 15x7 diamond spoke wheels. The GTA wheels are 16x8's. From your RPO's, you should have the GTA style wheels. Most likely a previous owner got perturbed with sticker shock when they went to buy new tires ($650-up) and opted to sell the GTA style wheels ($400+ profit) and installed the 15's with new tires (less than $400).
The wheels you have now were a factory option, they were standard on the Firebird SE in some years and were a no cost substitute on the Trans Am for several years. They aren't rare or very sought after, but they look better then the 20 slot 15's. If you paint the centers gold, they'd pass for GTA wheels from a distance. Or you could paint the centers medium metallic gray and they'd look pretty close to the original wheels.
I'd also imagine that your T/A is a WS6, after 85 or 86, all WS6 T/A's had 16" wheels.

Yea those are the rims. Yea the car is a 1987 Trans Am with the WS6 option. Guess they substituted the GTA rims for these ones. Damn that sucks. Oh well I want 2k Corvette rims anyway so no biggy its just I was a little confused when I looked up my RPO codes and saw the rims didn't match. Thanks for the help guys.
