correct finish for '84 T/A consoles?

does anyone know what the correct finish is for a black 1984 T/A console? That is, is it gloss, semigloss or flat...... ? Or catalog numbers would be great if anyone out there has them...

thanks!

It's black molded platic with a texture, they are not painted. Are you painting yours?

Hmm- this is definately not molded-in color. Oh- but I'm refering to the 'base' of the console, not the upper panels. With the upper panels removed the plastic crossbraces along the top of the console are a dark green, and the sides are black. I'm repainting them because where the seats have rubbed up against the sides of the console the paint has worn down to the grey primer. I had to pull the console to remove the tranny for a rebuild and I figure while I have it out I might as well clean it up and restore it....

Now I'm on the same page In my 82 and my 84 it was semi-gloss similar to the GM trim paint. Don't take my word for it, those cars weren't mint originals. Hopefully someone one here with a mint original knows exactly the color you need. Good luck!

I would have to say the base of the console is a semi gloss black. I detailed my console when I replaced the carpet this past summer, and noticed it was molded in dark green plastic. Good luck.
