Well, according to Car Craft, 1980 was the worst year for the Camaro.

Car: 1991 Formula
Engine: 350 firebreathing inches of Small Block Chevrolet
Transmission: A 700R4 that has trouble handling the formentioned 350.
OK here's what I remember from memory

There were 4 different engine's availabe

cubic inch - horsepower rating
227 V-6 - 100
267 V-8 - 120
305 V-8 - 155
305 V-8 - 165
350 V-8 - 190

And there were 152005 camaros produced

Plus they were like really ugly and horsepower was .... well low (a V-8 with 120 horse ? and a 350 with 190?? )

Later, Garrett

I always thought 75-76 were the worst years for Camaro, no Z28, and whopping 165 horse 350 . I don't undstand why Carcraft voted for 1980.

I agree with ya labrat that 75-76 were the worst but also all the ugly bumper cars (74-77) too with the exception of the '74Z28 with the big Z28 decal on the hood.I kinda like it.

I think '80 and '81 Z28s looked cool! I almost bought an '81 before I got into 3rd gens. Glad I didn't buy it though....probably maintenence hogs...even moreso than 3rd gens.

I've always felt that the Camaros around 77 up to 82 looked badass... it's just too bad they were so weak, 175 hp from the 350? Although, I suppose, at the time maybe that wasn't so bad... I wouldn't know, I wasn't alive, heh

That was the 70's for ya,it was the energy/gas crisis back then.Gas prices were up and horsepower went down after '71.Pretty much all muscle cars had sucky hp during the 70's..

I agree with going to Nasty's site, I used it when I considered a 2nd gen, 1980 350 4spd ..... fun to mod ... never a good keep it stock for orignal sakes !!!!

Besides at least the camaro kept a V8 till the bitter end, look what happened to other Muscles (Charger? duster? so on....)

I believe it was due to the 267 v8 that put out as much horsepower as an LC1
