ConvertiblesDiscussed here are problems and solutions to convertible specific questions, including difficult to find part numbers and other convertible tech help.
I am thinking of buying this Camaro. It's a little rough but has lots of possibilities. Paint doesn't look as good as photo shows. The guy wants 3100.00 but I think it can be bought for 2500.00. It's a 91 z28. May also just buy to flip. Would like opinions.

It needs paint and at least a drivers seat, check on the rust and the mileage. And it needs a dash pad which we all know is expensive. I wouldn't pay more than 2 grand for it, but the fact that it is an automatic I think makes it worth less.
How does the top work? Seals, top itself in good shape? I've never seen a convertible that was cheap to repair. I'm no expert, but for me that would be a bit of a deal breaker. Everything else is cosmetic lol buy a seat and dash cover if it bugs you too much. I think if top is in good shape, and of course it runs and shifts well, 2500-3000 is fair.
Add up what the work will cost you and then look at what you could buy for that amount - you may find that the dollars get you a lower mileage car that you don't need to do anything to & in the long run will be worth more.
Around here paint work & detailing is easier for me to source than interior work & the original interiors are VERY hard to find in nice condition. Mechanical is usually easy if there isn't anything significant involved. If it's been sitting for a long time expect to do injectors, ignition module & maybe coil.
That one looks like it needs seats, carpeting, dash pad, rear side panels, paint, windshield & I would expect door gaskets and likely a top. With decent Z28 or IROC convertibles still available everywhere for less than 10k, I think you would be under water on that car pretty quickly.
Haha! I bought that car last night. Didn't even see this thread until I was coming in here to check a part on how I did something with my last convertible.
Sorry Porkenstein. He took $1800 for it, so I'm feeling even better after reading all the comments for encouragement at $2500.
No problem. I had decided not to buy it. It was a good deal depending on what you wanted to do with it. At 1800.00 it would be worth restoring. I just wanted a quick flip and at 1800.00 it would be a real good flip on eBay. Glad you got it. The fact that it was a convertible makes it a great deal.

Yeah I plan on flipping it too. The paint is a little rougher than I would like, but most of the interior and trim parts I need I have in the garage left over from previous build stuff, so should make it happen pretty easy. I thought it was crazy to pop in here this morning and find a post about the car I just bought. GREAT MINDS right!
