The 16" Rims used in 91 & 92, I was talking to a 91 Camaro owner who stated that in 91 they were body color and in 92 they were all gray. is this true or is he just ill-informed.

I need to know for the shirts if your all wondering.

the ones on my 91, 16", were gray! I think it depended on the car!

the only ones that I have seen body color were red, white or black.

 

I was wondering if it was an option like on the 89-90's

Yup, some got them and some didn't.

 

the 91-92 Z28's all have body color rims, and he 91-92 RS's have bare cast (gray) rims. Thats the bottom line

 

I have seen too WAY many RS's with color wheels to say thats the absolute case...

 

to add to the confusion, i have seen plenty of teal cars with teal 16" rims

 

A friend of mine has a 10k mile red '92 Z28 with the black striped heritage package and his rims aren't painted.He's owned it since it had 6k miles.

 

ok, I think that about summs it up, Color wheels were an option on both the RS and Z28 in 91 & 92...

well i know you just said it's clearer up, but here's my car...body color wheels stock on my '92 RS

 

My buddy's 91 Black 1LE has gray rims; not black.

 

your example is erroneous to this topic because you are showing 15" rims

 

I don't recall ever seeing Z28/Zq8 16" rims accented in teal.

This is not even close to being a fact....I'm just saying I've never seen it. Did they have teal accents???

 

ive seen cars drive by with teal accents in the older z28 5spokes.

Yup he's right, my friend has a "Medium Quasar Blue Metallic / Silver" with 33,000 original miles.

 

yep that is right, I am pretty sure that
with 16 in Z28 style wheels in '91/'92 the only accented colors were red and white. The rest were all silver and they were available with RS also.

edit: oh yeah and gold accents for the anniv RS Polo Green II metallic...oops

 

i know i've seen a few cars with teal highlighted 16 inch rims...............dont know if they were stock or not, but i'd imagine it was available if i saw several different cars

 

As far as I can tell, the info above that willie stated is all but true. I was always led to believe that the Heritage cars got body colored wheels only. But when I got mine, Red/Black Stripes, the RPO (84P) verified that my car came from factory with gray.

 

so on a black 90 rs should there be black 15" wheels?

I had black 15" rims on my black 89 RS. Not sure if all got them though!

 

Black or Silver wheels were availble with a Black car fomr 89-92

my heritage z came special ordered from factory with silver wheels, no painted accents, held up to the elements much better than the painted ones i believe.

 

The Red Wheels do seem to fade to pink...

I noticed the '92 brochure shows a red Heritage edition Z28 with red accented wheels.

 

Just FYI, I once bought a set of 91-92 16" z rims and they had purple accents. Not sure if they came from a 91 or a 92 but I know for a fact that they came off a Purple Haze Metallic RS (305 tbi).

If they weren't factory, then whoever applied the paint was damn good cause it was a pain to remove.

 

I have to chime in here. I arrived here while searching for pictures online but have so far come up empty. I owned a 92 rs 25th anniversary purple haze Camaro and it had purple accents in the wheels to match. I bought the car used so idk if the were factory painted or not. I also had a green 91rs that had matching green accented wheels. Wish I could find pictures.
Both colors were beautiful though. Like candy.
