Restoring 1986 T/A

I am trying to restore a 1986 T/A Firebird. Where can I find information containing the original interior colors and exterior?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that info in the VIN#?

No it's not in the VIN.

However, it is on the trim tag on the radiator core support. Right there in plain sight, in raised sheet metal letters and numbers.

Well how do I then decode the numbers and letters? I dont think those are there because the individual who had this car before me redid alot of work in the engine. He put in a 350 and took out the 305. If that plate is not on there, where else could I find it?

One good item to get for your car, besides the Pontiac Service Manual, is the Pontiac Product Book for the year of your car.
It comes with most of the option codes, what's standard, what are options. In the front of these book, it even gives samples of the seat material, in the various colors.
In the section on your car, it will even give you body molding info, as well as decal colors for the color of your car!

Trying to help,

George

Thanks for all the info. I was hoping that there might be a easier way. I looked last night around the radiator and couldnt find any kind of metal stamp. And the middle console lid is missing.

There's no trim tag on the car, you need to consult the RPO list in the console.

The colors in there now might be the original ones. Should be able to look those up in a book.

If its the tag i think there talking about is on the core support more twards the pass. side of the car. Next to were the fan shroud bolts to. Should have six #s on it. But it could be missing. Its rivited on, so very easy to remove.

If I find those codes, where would I decode them at?

Interior Trim Colors for '86:

Black - color code 19
Light Saddle - " " 62
Russett - " " 68
Dark Carmine - " " 72
Dark Gray - " " 82

What exterior color is your T/A?

As I think madmax was trying to say, NO trim tag on '86's. '85 was the last year.

The exterior is Red. There is also a silver color on the ground effect or whatever you call them.
