It looks Authentic to me, I am usually skeptical, but this one looks legit, paperwork and all... Its definately no 1LE clone V6.

Looks authentic, a lot of documentation to back up the claim.
If the reserve is high enough we will find out how much it's worth to someone.

It has foglights, and a radio.. I thought that those were deleted on the 1LE.
Why would the put emissions stuff on a race car?
Documentation looks good..

1988 was a little different than the later years, I believe i read somewhere that 88's had fog lights, where later years didn't.
The seller claims the radio was added later.
The only question I have is why no picture of the SPID label.
I still think it may be real. The window sticker could be a repo, but I wonder if you can do a reproduction build sheet?

A/C was not available on a thirdgen 1LE. I say
.
EDIT: strange A/C is removed in the engine bay but the controls are thier, I was under the impression 1LE's had a AC delete panel.

I say its
. I've seen a 1LE 91 go for $12.5k show room quality, never driven except to get the fluids going, only 2.5 miles, I kicked myself for not buying it
.This guy is nuts for his asking price

I'm beginning to wonder about this car. If the documentation is a faked reproduction, which may be possible.
The build sheet has no RPO code for the body side molding B84, it should be on the build sheet. Also he states fog lamp delete, and the car does have fog lamps, he states am/fm cassette factory added, the car originally came with an AM/FM cassette, not sure what that means.
The lack of B84 on the build sheet makes me wonder if that document isn't forged, and they forgot that body side moldings were an option, also no picture of the SPID label.
If anyone lives near the car, go take a look at it and let us know what you think.

Looks legit to me. I would expect errors, exceptions, whatever. Especially since there were only 4 made! This is the first time I've seen an '88 1LE with documentation. Very cool!!!

Just as an FYI ... he states the car was built for the GM Players Challenge Series.
While it is a rare car, it has nothing to do with the Player's Challenge series other than being the receipient of a few performance options derived from the racing program.
In 1988, the car had to have the RPO A4U to be a Players challenge car. Plus all Player's cars were 305 speeds.
Now this car could have a sorted history, owned by some exec, and so on. Not sure.
The story I heard for the few 1988 1LE's was that in order to compete in the 1988 race season in the US, the car options had to be consider "production". Hence GM squeezed out a few 1LE cars in 1988 in order to meet the production requirements. The build date of the car is quite late in the year as well.
The first cars to receive the 1LE heavy duty front brakes were the Canadian Players cars. All the brakes were pre-assembled and sent to Van Nuys where they were installed on the assembly line. I'll make the assumption that the genuine 1LE cars where the first to be mass produced ... but then again they could have been built with left over parts too.
Regardless .. .it is a rare car ... for sure to be seen on ebay time and time again.
Mark.

The relist is bogus.
Within the last month, there have been dozens of 'rare' Camaro's - mostly first and early second gens - listed up on the Canadian eBay motors site for ridiculously low dollar amounts. IE a 69 Z28 with like 12k miles, loaded, original air in the tires, blah blah blah, with a BIN of $6k or so with either a private auction, or 'contact seller before bidding'. And always listed up by a seller who has just registered that day.

Ya I think the seller out of Montreal is fishy seeing as they have no feedback, used the exact same information (vin & photos), and it started later than the one from Long Island.

Interesting. Also the second one doesn't have all the bs about bidding in it. I don't know but something just doesn't seem right about the whole deal.

one would think that this answers the question as to whether it's real or not.
I've gone from thinking it's real to convinced it's bogus.

The 'relist' is:

Apparently they got caught, thankfully. From what I've read lately, a couple people are hacking other Ebay accounts and selling bogus items through them. It says to contact them before bidding to set up payment through wire transfer to some out-of-country account.
That's what I've learned, anyway.
