I was wondering, I'm looking at buying a body that the owner says is a GTA. It is a 1987 and has the GTA seats, the GTA map pocket, has the overhead console, and the steering wheel, doesn't have the vents on the front fenders, the GTA emblem on the front bumper, the Pontiac on the headlight door is gold (like it should be) and the bird in the center panel between the taillights is gold as well. The car has been re-painted and does not have the emblems on the fenders or sail panels. The RPO sticker is gone so I can't check the codes. When I ran the VIN off the car this is what I got
Made in: United States
Manufacturer: General Motors
Make: Pontiac
Carline Code: F-Body
Carline Series: Trans Am, Formula
Body Type: 2 door coupe (hatchback)
Restraint System: Manual belts
Engine Code: 305 ci V8 LG4 (1987)
8 is the CHECK DIGIT
Model Year: 1987
Assembly Plant: Norwood
Production Sequence: 204220
I was thinking that all of the GTA's had TPI engines in them and not carb engines, but I could be wrong. Any info before I buy this could help with the price of the car.
Thanks

Are you sure you wrote down the VIN correctly? Seems to have most of the right marks for a GTA.
Someone went through ALOT of trouble to make it look like a GTA, or you may have written the VIN down wrong.
A GTA will only have a F, or a 8 as the 8th digit of the VIN.
F being the LB9 305TPI. And 8 being a 350 TPI.
Does it have TPI under the hood?

No, someone has changed the motor and put a non ECM carb 350 in it. I'll have them doublecheck the VIN and make sure though.
