Date Stamp on the Radiator

I'm trying to figure out aproximately when my car was built. The sticker in the door are no longer legible, but I found May 17,1985 stamped on the radiator. Can i assume that is when the car was assembled. (The radiator looks stock.)

Thanks.

It'll be within the month. I've found all sorts of dates on my 86 TA (including the radiator one), they are all in November and the car was built in November so I'd say its pretty close... that is if the part isnt from another car

I have also seen this on 2 other cars I've had.

same problem with my 82, no sticker on door anywhere anymore, long gone sanded and repainted, and no lable under hood anywhere shroud was missing from car when i got it, so theres nothing at all cept part numbers and stamping dates on the car tub and fenders and hood and such and thats it

and its too old to have a SPID label either and vin plate is too rusty to read,

do have a body tag under hood on rad support tub though, thats a miracle in itself to still be intact on this car,

ive given up trying to to find out exact build date on this car, it will forever be a mystery, i will never know any of its original options, or original dealer or anything, pretty sad shape for an 82 trans am to be in, you would think ppl would keep documentation and lables in place in or on a car liek this, but nope, ppl are retards.,

you could have it even worse, hehe

Its probably close, But keep in mind our cars were Assembled, not Produced.

What I mean is back in the old days A Factory would make many of parts that were to be used. The Pieces were stamped, Cast, etc. and then put together.

Our cars were all outsourced, and then shipped to Norwood or Van Nuys. The Cars were Assembled. So the stamp date could be from the Manufacturer of the component.

If you want your exact birthday, get the VIN contact either PHS, or GM and have them send you a factory Invoice.
