Too much for '82 TA?
Check out this Ebay aution I just saw....1982 Pontiac : Trans Am FIREBIRD what a joke. Tell me who would spend 10,000 on this car? If someone is going to spend that much I could probably get at least 11,000 out of mine. It's in slightly better shape, minus the tan interior and turbocast rims, and I paid $3000 for mine! Oh, but those rims are worth at least $2000-$5000 alone right?? I would never think I could get $10,000 out of mine. Even if I got it in showroom condition I would probably get $8,000 tops maybe. Maybe when these cars are a little older they might be worth more but not right now. I'll feel sorry for the sucker who buys this car

The best looking kitt replica I ever seen was on e-bay for 7,000 big ones and even that was a ridiculous price

1982TA: So why is there a problem then? He buys a lot of the items from people who want to get rid of them. If a Firebird or KR enthusiast had taken the time to go looking where he was looking he could have gotten the item for cheap. I wasn't saying you don't put work into finding parts. I just said you can't blame him for selling at those prices. He does the work others avoid and if he believes his work is to be that expensive... well again you don't have to have HIM do the work.
It's not like he tells people wrong stuff about his parts to get higher prices. That would be illegal and a rip off. That is the difference. It's like buying a Rolex. Those watches aren't particularly better than other watches. But they hjave made a name and people buy to a great deal the name with their money. It is exactely the same here. Or take gold. It's just a metal. Yet, since it's rare, people are willing to pay more for them. That is not the vendors fault.
But to clarify something here: I don't know the guy particularly well aand I also don't buy from him because I know how to do his job (finding the parts) quite well. I have settled for 14 inch rims because no one (!) beside me and one friend in my whole country will know the difference... and I don't give a flying pigs ****. If that one inch is so important, well then one should just scrap together those additional 500$ or let it be.

I say if he can sell his parts and make that much profit, more power to him. Hell, if I could make an a**load of profit on used parts, then turn around and buy new parts for less money, I'd do it too. And so would anyone else I know.

more power to him if he sells them but we still have freedom of speech and I say his prices suck.
This thread was heavily edited and content removed!
I was contacted by the person that owns the auction requesting that I remove the post. I found nothing wrong with the post other than a few people name calling. Name calling is against board rules. I deleted the thread, but like this time, the browser timed out. I then received another PM from the poster giving me an attitude about not deleting the post. This was 24 hours after the first contact.
Just so everyone knows, I deleted all the crap in this post and I will be locking this. Not because the person that sells this stuff whined, but because by tonight, the attitudes got to be too much. I informed the seller that the members of TGO were only guilty of petty name calling. Opinions are allowed, that's why the post remained for so long. I also informed him that he does have a right to advertise items at whatever price he wants. If some think it's too high, they won't buy the item. The seller also appeared out of line towards the end with his name calling.
Let's move on! Seller, sell for whatever you can get, but don't expect these guys to buy. Guys, if it's too much, then don't buy it. End of story.
