Got a weird question here. What color were the hood hinges as the cars came from the factory? Body color or black?

Mine are body color.

Black if your car was black from the factory. All I have ever seen is body color. and I have had 83s, 87s and an 91 F-body.

Thanks, that makes sense I guess, since the bodies were painted with the hoods attached.

The paint was really quite crappy on them as well... When I got my car the underside of the hood barely had any paint. So little in fact that I could see the gray primer, same thing with the hinges.

The thing that really sucked is at car shows I would get docked for it when the car came that way

i took my hinges and hood hardware off when I painted my car and decided to paint them with a semi gloss black. Looks pretty sharp.

That is how some of the older cars are done. My old 67 has semigloss black hood hinges & springs from the factory.
