Borrowed my friend's camera for this...got my car from my uncle a few weeks ago (free! he works on cars and a client's daughter...well it's all posted elsewhere). I'm real happy with it (just got it back from the shop today for e-brake/rear pads fix/replacement and spark plugs+wires replacement)

thanks Just gotta figure out what to do with it once it's all fixed...I'm open to suggestions...esspecially since I know next to nothing about car schtuff...just what I read here and there on these boards (I lurk...a lot...)

hah...thanks. I end up using the rear floorboards as a place to put light stuff so they don't get blown away when the tops are off. Not to mention it's allergy season >.<

 

Sure don't see those early cars around here these days. I'd suggest keeping it as original as possible, just get it back to new condition as possible. That's a CFI powerplant? Nice car I think.

 

that's the plan mostly for now...just fixing everything that needs fixin. So far the list is:

- body work (for dents and rust)
- interior fabric replacement (it's all torn up under the covers there)
- repaint (same paint scheme as it is now)
- get a new lock for the back (it just looks bad that I have to open the rear with a long screwdriver since there's no lock cylinder thing...just the mechanism behind it)
- replace screws all over that are missing
- clean tail lights and replace the hood insulation (it's also all torn up it seems)
- lots and lots and lots of cleaning...well...everything
- fix speedo...it's consistently 10mph slow (reads 55 when I'm going 65 and 35 when I'm going 45 kinda thing).

uhm...forgive my noob-ness but...what's CFI?

 

Its an L69 car. Look at the tach. and oil press. gauges.

CFI was not available in 84.

Can't beat free. I'd keep it close to original, but update it with some modern performance parts. Make a good "sleeper" out of it.

A most excellent Freebird! A superb find
Now I'm really confused though! My VIN says my car is an 85 T/A, however the bodywork and interior is the same as your 84 apart from the steering wheel and tachometer (doesn't go to 8k). The passenger's dash panel has a wood veneer insert with a screaming chicken badge on it.
We (ThirdGen members) thought that someone had gone to a load of trouble attempting a knight rider conversion and swapped the 84 front and rear on to my car.
Now I'm thinking that the VIN is wrong..... Not that I'm too worried, she's got a 305 with a Holley 4 barrel on it and the bodywork is 84 Trans Am. Good enough for the UK

glad it was helpful I'm sure you can get it made in most any color...the body guy I talked to mentioned some people who could fabricate them.

I do too...gonna keep that and probably all the decals when all is said and done.

Going in for interior cleaning and re-upholstering in a week...so excited ^_^ (after that, time to clean up the body...dents and paint).

 

I like that decal on the hood bubble too.. It looks good and you don't see many...
