HELP with TPI Emblem placement
Hi guys/ gals,
Need help with the correct location for the TPI emblem I wish to put on the rear bumber of my bare-metal-resprayed '89 Iroc Vert.
Any one know the exact measurement for the left side of the bumber groove the emblem should be placed??
Thanks!
Sean

the best i can do is a picture if you dont already have one. i guess try to line it up with a certain part of the tail lights.

Like, making the last letter line up near the edge of the reverse lights...i can get measurements later if you still need them.

OK, i got the measurement. So, its like a valley that the emblem goes in. I started measurement from where the valley starts (it hasn't gone down in yet). and from that corner/edge, to the very left edge of the top part of the t is exactly 4 inches. let me know if that was too confusing.

I have owned several Camaros which I've purchased new. One thing that was not consistent was the placement of this emblem or "plate" as GM calls it. On a personal level, I like this distance from the left edge of the depression to the "T" to be equal to the distance between the right edge of the "Z28 (Chevy logo)" and the end of the depressed area on the right.

Willie is correct, decals & such that do not have a pin to retain them tend to not be all the same. There is a general area and thats about it. As for Firebirds, I have seem dealer brochures that show the nose bird in drastically different places...
With that said, Trust Willie, and make it the same distance from the left as the Bowtie is from the right.

I'm on board with the gentleman above.... just had my 91 below repainted and I told the shop I wanted my decals in the factory locations -
boy was I shocked to hear the body shop tell me that there is no "database" or measurments on where the decals should be..
I had to go to the shop and have him tape them in place where I wanted them... and did that with the help of a Trans Am book with pictures!
I think they came out fine... even though he used 4th gen decals!!!

I know backgrounds are sometimes are cut larger than the decal and give you an alighnment point, usually its only in one direction. For example the 87-90 Factory Formula decals only give you distance back from the leading edge of the door. It appears as tho they have the vertical alignment but in reality if you used the lower cut as an alignment it puts the decal too low on the door in my opinion.
Therefore you can align them up or down as you see fit, also its up to you to make sure there level and not on some crazy angle.
