Some one I know told me that it is hard to come by formulas with 5 spds, much less any 3rd gen with a 5spd. It doesnt seem like it to me because a few of my friends have 5spds in there 3rd gens. or what?

They arent seen everyday, but they are most certainly not rare. Ive had 3 thrdgens with 5-speeds in the last 4 years.

Not rare, but not really the norm, either.

Check mine out, first year for the T-5, but nothing that special either.

The popularity of the Engine/Trans combinations seem to be the following for the Formula Every year:
Most common - Base Enge LG4 or LO3 & A4
2nd most common - Base Enge LG4 or LO3 & M5
3nd Most popular - LB9 A4c
4rd most popular - L98
Least popular - LB9 M5

As for desirability in the future, you can probably expect the 350 to pull the most, the 305 LB9/M5 to pull the second most and the 305 LB9 A4 to be 3rd most desirable. The LG4 cand LO3 cars I really do not see as being as collectable, but they will not be a waste of time.
