Does anyone know how many B4Cs Chevy made with the 305 5 speed combos
I was just tring to figure out witch is more popular the 305 combo or the 350. I would think that the 305 5speed would be a pain in a pursuit
anyone got any clue
plus any more production #s then just the genaral # made that year (# of cars with this option) and any Ideas where It would be a good place to get info. does GM have a records department?

The reason I never answered back is because the question cannot realistically be answered.
There were 592 B4Cs built in '91, so ANY B4C is rare. But it is impossible to tell how many were 305s and how many were 350s. Like Willie has said repeatedly, Chevy doesn't keep records this way....there's no way to tell how many had 305s.
I would GUESS a 305 B4C is indeed rarer, but there's no way to back this statement up.

I have no idea about the numbers, but my brother has a '92 B4C 305/5 speed, and it's the fastest stock-engined 3rd Gen I've ever driven! Was a former Texas DPS car down in the Houston area....
Very cool cars, in many ways, they're the ultimate 3rd Generation F-body.....better than the 1LE because of the AC, which here in Texas, is NOT a trivial matter!

Hey man, no problem
Yeah, it would be nice if Chevy would develop their own historical society, but that would cost $$$, and we ALL know they wouldn't wanna do that, right??
Enjoy the B4C...1 of my dream cars. But are you sure you wanna cut up such a rare and collectible car with a 383? I mean, I'm all for people having fun with their 3rd gens, but that car is RARE, and I've seen sh** examples going for like 7 grand around here. Add to it you got a 305 TPI, and its beyond rare....
If I was you, assuming you do put the 383 in, save the old 305 TPI, because when you go to sell it someday, the future owner may want an original B4C, and you'll get a LOT more money for a collectible with the original engine. Maybe someday you'll wanna make it original again, too.
Just my 2 cents
Enjoy the car!!

Of course, this doesn't mean that you will lose value by making some performance mods. Anything that isn't visible can be modified without affecting collectability, i.e. camshaft, heads, porting/polishing, rear axle ratio, etc.

Willie,
Thanks for the kind words!! Yes, indeed I would find working for a "Chevrolet Historical Society" the ultimate job!! I mean, then I could do all my hobby reading on the job, right??
In terms of modification, I do plan to modify my current car as money permits, (I still have 2 years of college left
) but seeing as how it's a 2.8 RS, it isn't exactly rare!! I do plan on keeping a factory style to it, by building a 3.4 MPFI, rather than converting to a 4th gen 3.4. I'm not altering a Camaro that has an interesting or important history...the only person the car has any real significance to is me! Been in the family since new, and that's the way it will stay...
When I graudate though, the search will be on for an '89 G92 350 IROC, or a '90 350 IROC. Now THAT is a car I will keep original
I just hope there are still a few left around here in 2 years!
BTW Willie, I went to the site about your IROC....that car only needs 1 word to describe it: awesome. If it's ok to quote a Japanese company here, enjoy the ride

Well, I do plan on keeping all of the original parts so that some day I can put it all back to the way it originally was. The engine right now has 140,000 miles on it and is getting pretty loose, I have also put some more thought into how big of a motor I want, and a 350 is much more practical. I already have the block, it just needs machine work and I want to get it in before the 305 blows!! So I can rebuild the 305, when the time comes. I do truly appreciate the rarety of this car, but I can't see rebuilding the 305 when it would cost me just as much money as the 350. Thanks for the comments and for understanding.
P.S. Whenever I find a desent scanner I will post some pictures, I have some really nice ones!! My car is VERY photogenic!!!

If anybody is interrested, there is a 92 B4C camaro for sale near me. It just got retired by the NY state police. It's got right about 100k and a couple of small dents and badly needs paint, but no visable rust whatsoever. He wanted $4200, but I'm sure with winter coming he'll bend. I want it but can't afford it right now, so I'd rather see it go to a good home instead of to a chuckle-head like the last one he sold. It's a 350 car. The dealer swears it's an LT1 (it's not) but he's an idiot. He said the same thing about the last one he had.
