VIN Number

Hi there,

I am in Australia looking at buying a 1986 Transam.

Its has 305 TPI engine with T700r4.

Can any one tell me what the break down on the VIN Number is??

1G2FW87F3GN229744.

Did they 86 model come out with the TPI?? Guy tells me it all factory.

I am new to the Transam world is there anything i should look for in particular?

Is it hard to swap engine to 350 TPI or LS1?

Here is the link for car

Mick

The 8th digit in the VIN is "F" which indicates that yes indeed the car came with the LB9 305 TPI engine.

If you want to put in a 350 TPI setup it is going to be really easy. Besides the engine you will need a PROM chip for the ECM, new injectors, and the correct knock sensor for a 350.

Good luck with your purchase.
