whats up fellow enthusiasts,
I have a problem i bought a 305 tuned port injection motor from a junkyard and the man said the firebird was a 90' so i figured it was speed density so i bought it including wire harness and computer it was also a five speed. Now the back of the computer number says it an 86 to 89 i didnt see an mass air floww sensor in the harness i checked the fuel rail and all it says is rochester products can anyone help me out to figure out exactly what type of motor is it. I almost forgot it a roller cam so im figuring it must be an 87 to 89 thanks

Does your engine have a MAP sensor.. If so, it's speed density 90-92. I've included a picture showing where the MAP sensor is below... It's circled in green .. If you don't have that sensor, then it'll be an earlier engine.. No real way to tell without the casting numbers...

post the # off the front of the block, just below the head on the right side of the block, with these #'s I can tell you what it's from. Chris
Whats up,
I wish i could post the numbers off the block but i cant due to the original block had a crack when i was rebuilding the motor so i had a new one installed and being the idiot that i am i didnt get a look at the casting number and they junked the block. I ve read in some articles that have information to look at castin # on intake manifold and it says the intake manifold is from a 86 corvette but how is that possible if i have a roller cam which was not included in 86 plus i know its a 305 thanks

That just means the intake manifold was cast in 1986. It could be for an 86 car or for an 87 car. We need some numbers off the block to know for sure.
