this is the VIN in question: 1G1FP2189JL178892
It's from an 88 IROC...
the "L" stands for the factory in which it was made, which is Van Nuys, CA.
& the last 6 digits represent its place on the assembly line. but the cars from Norwood, OH start w/a 1 & the cars fron CA are supposed to start w/a 4, but this 1 says made in van nuys, but has a norwood #...

There are four 1's in that VIN. Which one are you referring to as being the assembly plant?

The VIN looks ok to me, the last 6 digits started with 400001 on Van Nuys Camaros in '85 only, on the 3rd generation cars. all other Camaros from '82-92 started at 100001. this car your looking at, with the last six digits of 178892 was built around the begining of June 1988. Chris
