86 H.O T/A?

Found an 86 T/A by me that maybe up for sale its brite blue met,a little different shade than my 85,and also has the H.O motor,I did not think they made these after 85 does anybody have any information on this?

Yes, there were some made in 86, there are H.O. engines from 83-86. There were only 26 Trans Ams made with that engine in 86!!

Yes actually only 26 were made, I know where there is one too and he is as well thinking of selling it. He put a 350 in the car though.

The reason they droped the engine was because of vapor lock problems. According to some of my GM Informaion it appears as though they were planning on using the H.O. Engine in 87, but when they droped the engine in 86 due to vapor-lock, it was gone for good.

Didnt they use it thru 88 in the Monte Carlo SS's? I thouht it was dropped in 86 for 2 reasons.

1. TPI 350 was comming out for 87, and the TPI 305 was going to be offered with a 5-Speed, making 205 horses, making the H.O. unnecessary.

2. Then engines were needed for the Monte Carlo SS's, being in high demand.
