1987 Carbed 305?
exactly how rare is a carbed 305 in a 1987 camaro. Came like it from the factory the owner says. Hes selling it for 2400, 100k miles on it. Just wondering if very early 87's had Carbs as an option still.

According to the "Camaro Whitebook" there were 36,845 Sport Coupes with the LG4 305/4bbl(It was a $400.00 option). The LG4 was still the Z28/IROC's base motor.Looking at production numbers it seems there were some 10K to 13K Z28/Iroc's that came with the LG4 in '87.From '88 on all motors were fuel injected.
The 1987 production numbers in the White Book have come into question many times. I wouldn't consider it a reliable resource.
As far as rarity, 87 was a big year for the Camaro and there are a ton of them out there. Simply having the LG4 doesn't make it rare. I don't think anyone sits down to buy a thirdgen to keep as an investment with the idea that they want a low output 305.

Thankyou Drew,I've seen that about the "Whitebook" several times. But with the way GM operates even they don't have exact numbers for some models. To run across a '87 LG4/5spd Z28 with the B4Z pkg and nothing else would be odd for sure. But like you stated when you consider the other more heavily optioned/hgher hp models these will be the black sheep of collectibility. But it would be a fun car to play with.Relatively light weight, probably less than the 1LE cars, still with all the handling goodies(kind of the '64 GTO or '68 Road Runner of the modern musclecar era).

True for the individual options that came in option packages. The production build numbers, engines, transmissions and some options, i.e. tires, are accurate.
