Inner Metal Brackets For Center Caps/GM Restoration Parts
Ok,
This has been the most harrowing search ever. Without going after new center caps for my WS6 Rims on my 86(since i have 6 already that are used but good condition), I am ONLY looking for the inner metal bracket that comes with them when they are new. GM Restoration Parts sells the caps with the metal brackets, and so does the dealer. But i dont need the caps themselves. Last week, i went to Englishtown NJ's Raceway Park Swap Meet, and only found the caps, but not the brackets. Anyone know where i can get JUST the metal brackets? Tried the junkyards too...no luck....

Hello..
well this is probably a pretty bad idea...but if someone on here has them...do you think it would be possible for them to take some very good pictures of them...and measure them...so we can make some?...im not sure if its possible but i know there are some VERY smart people on here and i think we could do it. but then again if your set on getting ahold of a gm one..good luck..ive never even seen them

I am positive there are alot of guys n gals on here that can fabricate this thing, but i wasnt expecting to go to that trouble to actually make them. And yea, unfortunetly, they are impossible to find. Next on the "Impossible-To-Find-List": A 91-92 GTA front bumper. Yea...i cant wait to start looking for THAT one...its gonna be more fun than throwing up on your neighbors porch...

When I was a kid I used to kick off the center caps on the Z28's and GTA's(not proud of it)and the metal bracket would always stay on the wheel, I guess they were there to keep the caps on when you drove. Try some auto silicone. I used the silicone and it worked like a charm! Never lost a cap(unless some wise *** kid would kick them off
)
) Having a rather vast collection of centercaps, I'd guess that the metal clips were an afterthought... The only caps I have with the metal clips are silver WS6 caps... All the black caps with silver turkeys I have dont hav ethe clips or any sign of ever having had the clips. As far as I can tell the only way to get the clips is to buy the centercaps new.
ps the 15" camaro 5 spoke wheels used metal clips too, but they are different and won't work for firebird caps.

I dont know what GM Restoration Parts charges for a set of four centercaps with the metal brackets, but they were selling them at the swap meet new for $45 bucks/set. Not bad, considering that the dealer wants $100/set. Still kinda pricey. But oh well, i guess i will have to have to get them new...unless i am REALLY lucky and find them in a junkyard somewhere. Thankx.
