Part Numbers
Part Numbers
I recently purchased an "assembly manual" while at a local F-body event for my 86 Z28. I wanted this primarily because it shows detailed photos of the assembly process of the entire car with part numbers. The other day I went to http://www.gmpartsdirect.com to order some parts and come to find out that the majority of the part #'s listed in the assembly manual are wrong (most likely these are pre vehicle launch #'s that have changed). Where can I find a manual or cd rom of the correct GM service part #'s for the entire car? I mean interior screws and all (this was actually what I need to order).
Thanks for any assistance!

Best thing you could do is go to a large GM Dealer or look on Ebay for a used microfiche reader. I got one from a dealer for about 20 bucks because they are now obsolete as dealers use computerized systems and intranet (not internet).
Then for 10 to 20 bucks you can buy the microfiche slides for your car.

If you're just looking for interior screws (or misc fasteners), your local paint supply house should carry, any and/or all fasteners for your car.
If you're looking for part #s, try around to some local full collision shops, you might be able to get an out of date (last years) collision book from them for a small fee (or even free)
