HOW MANY '86'S

DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW MANY 1986 CAMAROS WERE MADE IN EACH MODEL? WAS THERE A BERLINETTA OR ONLY COUPE, RS AND Z28'S? HOW CAN I FIND OUT WHAT PROD. NUMBER MY CAR IS? THE INFO ON THE DOOR IS HARD TO READ DUE TO PREVIOUS PAINT JOBS DONE BAD BY THE PREVIOUS OWNERS? IF I HAVE MY VIN CAN I GET A NEW DOOR DECAL MADE SOMEWHERE? I KNOW I GOT LOT'S OF QUESTIONS. I JUST NEED LOT'S OF INFO BECAUSE I AM TRYING TO FRESTORE MY CAR AS BEST AS POSSIBLE.

Here is the breakdown according to the Camaro White Book:

Total Production: 192,219
V6: 77,478
V8: 114,741
_____________
SC 4 banger: 99,608
Berlinetta V6s: 4,479
Z28 V8: 88,132
IROC pkg: 49,585

It doesn't seem like these numbers add up too good - but thats what the book says..

That is because all sport coupes had the 4 cylinder as standard. The V6 and V8 was an option, the 99,608 is the total for all sport coupes, not 4 cylinders. If you take the total production of 192,219 and subtract out the number of V6 and V8's built you come up with 27 which sounds about right to me for actual 4 cylinder production (though I don't have the actual numbers in front of me). Also the IROC package was a part of the Z/28 total, so there were 49,585 IROCs and 38,547 Z/28s. The Berlinetta was a separate model from the sport coupe and Z/28, so it is listed separately. Hope that helps to clear things up.

Your 86 Berlinetta is more rare than the 82 Pace car.....

The White book for 86 shows "berlinetta V-6 4,479..... But that is the count for ALL Berlinettas during the last year of production. Chevrolet quit making the 86 berlinetta in the spring of 86.

The white book describes thier entry as "Berlinetta, V-6" because that was the BASE motor for the berlinetta.

There was a TOTAL of 4,479 1986 Berlinettas made.
