I've got a slightly confusing situation. after decoding the RPO's on my 89 Camaro, I have not been able to determine if it's a true IROC, or if it's an RS cloned. 1st off the car is fully done like an IROC would be with factory correct springs, swaybars, etc. here's where the codes come into play.
1st is DX3 - stripe delete, the car has no lower stripes, but has all the other badging and decals for an IROC and appears to be factory paint. I dont believe an RS would need DX3 since it has no stripes
2nd FE1 - rally suspension. the soft ride suspension, I wouldn't think would be on an IROC at all
3rd IAY - Dealer ordered car. Perhaps the dealer special ordered the car then applied the decals over the DX3?
Last, Z28 is missing from the sheet, but being a special order car, I thought maybe they may not have included it.
It does have computer selected springs all around

It's either a really well optioned RS or a one of a kind special order IROC.
It even has D60 - Color combo not recomended because it's black with light grey interior.
Maybe someone could search the vin for me and see what this car was?

Don't worry. You have an IROC. The softer ride suspension came with all L03 IROC's which your's is. Your car also originally came with the 15 inch IROC rims. Stripe delete could come on any IROC.
As far as the Black on light grey, how do you know that color combo was not recommended by GM? Just asking because my 89 IROC has that combo and I figured it was very popular.

The color combo not recomended came from code D60. That was the defenition I got when decoding D60 = Non-Recommended Color Combination at least thats what nastyz28.com's rpo list has it at.
Like I said though, Z28 is NOT on the sheet, which is the RPO code for the IROC package in 88, 89, and 90, but everything else about the car points to it being an IROC.
Ive also read (including on the tech page at f-body.org)
1988
Newly available DX3 stripe delete option eliminated IROC-Z decals and stripes altogether.
Mines got the decals, no stripes, and the DX3 code on the sheet. Perhaps the database is wrong and DX3 only deletes the stripes, not all the badging? I also though all the badges were red, mine are grey.
I have a feeling the code IAY - Dealer special ordered car might have eliminated the Z28 code, but have it still be an IROC.

After consulting more rpo codes sites, I have determined my car has every rpo that would be included in FZA3 which would be an IROC option group 3. After looking at options in RS groups, I think it's safe to say that even without the Z28 in the codes, it's a factory IROC. Here's a full listing of my codes

would the FZA3 have been on the cowl tag? the only longer strings of numbers were 1fp287 at the top of the rpo sheet. but that only says its a camaro and not what sub model it is.
I got this from camarosource.ca
FZAB had RPO UM7 radio. FZA1 had A01, B84, TR9, UA1 and UM7. FZA2 same as FZA1 plus AU3, A90, B34, B35, CD4, C60, K34, N33, UM6, less UM7. FZA3 same as FZA2 plus AG9, A31, DG7, DC4, D42, TT4, UX1, less UM6.
Mine has a01 b84 tr9 ua1 au3 a90 b34 b35 cd4 c60 k34 n33 a31 dg7 dc4 d42 tt4 and ux1
Im gonna go with this is a factory IROC based on it matching the options for that IROC group
