1989 Firebird SSA

Hey everyone,
My name is Rich. I'm buying a 1989 Firebird SSA, and I have a couple of questions about this car. I'm curious as to what the SSA stands for (Second Special Anniversary?), and what the production numbers are. I am also curious as to the amount of horses the 2.8 v6 is producing. Any info helps. Thanks

It's an appearance package and the SSA just means that it was a San Francisco/Sacramento edition, the XS Firebirds were the Los Angeles one's. It nothing but an appearance package as far as I know. I don't know the production numbers and your engine should have about 135HP.

Thanks for the reply. I bought this car with intentions on only keeping it until November, or so, and was just curious if it was worth putting any money into. I guess this brings about another question. What would be the better, faster buy: a 98-01 six-speed Camaro Z28 w/ aerodynamics package, or a 98-01 Trans Am w/o ram air? Oh, or how about a 99 Cobra...just kidding...no mustangs.

I think the Camaro would be better unless you get a Ram Air T/A Why not a WS6 or an SS???

A WS6 or an SS is possible. However, I am only 18, and the insurance would be even more through the roof. I just love the Z28 w/ sports package...it has such a luxury sports look. Then again, it might possibly be more feasable to put some money into the firebird I have now.
