whats this?

Me and my dad were taking off my hood today, and when we went to take it off i was like, whats holdin it up, oh, duh, its the hoodlight chord...so we go to take it off, and we find that it branches over to a wire heading to my LU5 hood flap thingies...I was told this thing was vacum operated...could they have been wrong and its electrically operated??? If it is, that would make making it functional again sooo much easier, any ideas?

I guess you could rig a switch like that which goes under the gas pedal kinda like the switch that activated the brights on the old Chevy's...

At least on the Firebirds with CFI at least in one year it used an electric solenoid that was triggered by a vaccuum operated switch.
