Seat information
The seats in my 84 came with the "CAMARO" stitched in the upper and lower part of the seat and also in the door panels. Obviously this was an option in 1984. Since I get asked about them all the time I was wondering if anybody knew if this was an option in any other year?

The L/S Conteur seats appeared with the "CAMARO CAMARO CAMARO" from 1982 thru 1985. In 1986, the same seats were an option, but came with the same fabric as the optional custom interior. Color availability changed each year.

Willie thanks. Just out of curiosity, where did you get the info? I have checked different books and have never found a reference to the seats. I didn't think there was anything "rare" about them and probably wouldn't care anyhow since the car is far from original. Thanks again.

I have the original Camaro dealership brochure for every year third gen except 1982. The info on the L/S Conteur seats came from these. These seats were an option only on the Z28.
For 1984, there were five different interior colors:
1) Charcoal
2) Dark Blue
3) Camel
4) Sand Gray
5) Dark Brown
However, the Conteur seats were an option in only three colors:
1) Charcoal
2) Dark Blue
3) Dark Brown
With the dark blue and dark brown interiors, the seats and door panels were similar shades of these colors. With the charcoal interior, the seats and door panels were charcoal/red/orange.
I have never seen production figures on the various interiors that were available through the years, so it's hard to say how many were produced with these optional seats. Suffice it to say, they are relatively rare because of the cost. The following prices are from the Camaro White book and are for 1984:
L/S Conteur Seats with base interior cost $375.00 (Z28 only). With the custom interior, the cost was $650.00 (Z28 only).

There were two levels (beleive it or not) for the L/S conteur interior for 1983 & 1984. The differences were: "D" level i.e. 17D was Conteur Custom Cloth and "E" level i.e. 17E was Conteur Standard Cloth. The difference was the standard cloth had vinyl on the door panels. I ran across an '83 L69 Z28 at the '96 USCC nationals in Pigeon Forge, TN that had 17E interior. It was a very low optioned car without A/C & t-tops.
I talked with the original owner and he said he special ordered the car. Production numbers are as follows:
1983: 17D Charcoal 1,796
17E Charcoal 363
22D Dk. Blue 776
22E Dk. Blue 214
67D Dk. Brown 377
67E Dk. Brown 57
1984: 17D Char/red 3,565
17E Char/red 519
22D Dk. Blue 2,074
22E Dk. Blue 244
67D Dk. Brown 493
67E Dk. Brown 65
1985: 19D Black 2,510
62D Saddle 1,141
72D Red 1,043
