Found a weird thing in my car, plz tell me what it is.

Today when i was removing my headliner this metal object fell from my headliner. It is silver and looks like an ignition key, it has the square head with a fork on the end with has the shape like this l_l. on it says gm code key. does anyone know what this may be. I asked my friends and they dont have the slightest clue. please let me know what this is.

It's the key that you stick in the ALDL plug so you can read the trouble codes that blink from the "service engine soon" light.

did that come from the factory or did someone leave it there?

Not sure but it's nicer then using a wire or coat hanger.

that sounds right --- had too much burbon! it is a gm 1st gen comp. code key, and the don't come factory in cars-- somebody must have stashed it!
