Crazy, your request - Original ride height, '85 IROC-Z
Crazy, your request - Original ride height, '85 IROC-Z
Seeing the ride height question/request in my "Newbie" thread gave me a good reason to go see the IROC today. CrazyHawaiian had asked, and others also wanted to know. Here's what I found >>
1985 IROC-Z >> 3,800 miles all original. Tires are the original factory Goodyear Eagle VR50 245/50/16 with no tread wear.
Front Left (Driver's Side) & Front Right (Passenger's Side) = 26 3/4"
Rear Left (Driver's Side) & Rear Right (Passenger's Side) = 27 3/4"
Front Bumper (Midline) = 8 3/4"
Rear Bumper (Midline) = 13 3/4"
The wheelwell measurements were made at the center, ie the highest point from the ground.
Hopefully that helps!

Problem is that the weight of the car has still set on the springs for 21 years. You need to go back in time.
The bulk of those years, the weight was not on the wheels/tires. I only know what the original owner told me, but you wouldn't think the IROC has 3,800 miles on it by looking at it.

Even if the weight of the car was on the springs all that time, they'll still have worn far less than thousands of miles of bumpy roads and constant suspension travel.
Bull, that's my thoughts too. Just for reference, I measured my '82 Vette (450 miles original), and it was less than 1/8" difference than brand new. Thanks to NCRS and Bloomington, you can 'go back in time' and find out original obscure measurements like ride height.
So I'd bet the IROC is within the same tolerance versus new. And honestly, 1/8" could be operator error during a measurement. What's a 1/8" between friends
