Latest find
1985 Trans Am.
The guy had said black and gold T/A but I discovered when I saw it--all black--gold/yellow pinstripe with the 16" gold rims.
Has two rare options on it--at least in my mind
-Recaro seats
-Hood bird
The rest: WS6, 3.27 9 bolt rear discs---with the LG4 auto--I never knew they built this combo.
Learn something new everyday
Why the ##$@$ dealer would order almost every option BUT the good engine is beyond me. 85-86 305 TPI cars seem rare to Canada--I have found anyhow.
119Kms--thats 73K miles. It does need paint but body looked very solid.
I did not get inside the car yet--but the Recaros looked mint!
I was looking for a production number on Recaros for 85 but did a search---no one knows. Well for Canadian car I would guess it would be super rare.
Oh BTW--the build sheet was sitting in the back seat!

She's a beauty, congratulations. It's interesting what some dealers did when you could individualy order options. And I haven't seen a 3rd gen T/A in a long time with the factory hood Bird. Are you going to try and get the PHS documentation for her?Well with the build sheet sitting there looking at you that's about the best verification for what options she has.

That's a cool find. I have a similar situation with my '85 IROC-Z. It is fairly loaded, and has the LG4 with the optional Auto. And then it has Posi?! The car only has 3,800 miles on it. When I was talking with the first owner, I asked if it only had that many miles because the LG4 wasn't all that hot of a motor. I was just joking, but I think it rubbed him a little wrong ...

It's amazing the combos you'll come across. The LG4 was the standard motor for the Z28's and T/A's.They offer very good potential but I agree in stock form they left/leave a lot to be desired. But some people liked the look and handling and didn't realy want the "hotter" setup. If you do some research you'll be amaxed at the oddball combos you could get from the "Musclecar era" foward. But this was when you could go to the dealer and order a car the way you wanted(well with a few exclusions and exceptions).

coolram62--good points. At lest there was agreat deal of veriety in 3rd gens.
To me--4th gens are very cookier-cutter--most are nearly identical.
This 85 even had the roof console. However, upon the test drive it felt very tired. The engine and trans felt okay but the chassis flet odd--couldn't quite put my finger on it.
Need alot more then a paint job to make a decent weekend driver, so I will pass.

I've got the roof console thingy too - And that little flashlight thingy. Who orders this stuff?! With less than 4K miles on it, my '85 felt really really good for the four miles I've driven it this year. It didn't roast the tires off of course :-)
