Factory louvers
I have recently come across a parts cars with a salvage certificate that i am interested in buying. The car is a 1987 formula and has louvers on the rear window. After looking the car over, i noticed that the rear "aero" style foam wing is attached to the outside of the louvers as opposed to the glass underneath of them. I have never seen the spoiler attached attached in this fashion. This may be due to the fact that i havent seen many birds with that wing with louvers. My question is, was this car available from the factory with louvers? / and if so are these factory louvers. Any insight/ advise is greatly appreciated. -Bob

Factory louvers from GM came in several different versions: the no third brake light; third brake light on the outside of the hatch (1986); third brake light inside the hatch (early 1990's); and even a version to go with the rear wiper option. I'm not aware of any factory version that mounted on the rear wing. JC Whitney and a number of different vendors sold a variety aftermarket versons years ago. What your're describing may be one of these. A picture would help. The GM factory louvers all mount to the glass and the hatch molding, and match the contour and line of the body.
