new member...is this worth it?

I came across an 86 firebird...thats all i know...i looked at it and its in rough shape... it has a pretty good amount of rust (fenders, qaurter panels, bottom of doors, normal spots) it needs a real cleanup on the interior... i dont know what motor is in it because i couldnt get the hood to open (any ideas on how to get it open would help too) it has 151k miles on it, it has been sitting so i dont know how the brake lines and such are, the lady just wants it out of her driveway so i could get it for 100$ if not free... are the parts too expensive for restoring or would it be worth the effort? thanks in advance for the help

I'd say to fix it up you'd be looking at a lot of $$$. It sounds like it already has a good case of swiss cheese.

You could always get it and part it out..?

If it has that much rust, consider it a parts car at best.

You are better off finding a solid body to begin with, and paying more for it.

ok so i picked up the car today and most of the rust is just surface, im gonna take the grinder to it this weekend and see how far it all goes...it turns out it only has the 2.8L in it...also im assuming its a canadian car because everything is kilometers instead of miles, but i dont know much about these cars so maybe thats how it should be..? i was thinkin if the body ends up being ok, is swapping the v6 to a 350 that came in the same year too hard to do or will it drop right in without having to fab mounts and such? Thanks
