A quick Trans Am and T-top CC1 option question

I have searched and searched, with no luck - I am trying to find out in which years T.A.'s were available with the CC1/T-roof option, with the 5speed trans and the LB9 (5.0L) powerplant... and if the T.A. was available with t-tops and the LB9 with G92/N10 options (the 230hp 5.0L)
Any production number breakdown would be great as well.

I am asking as I am confused.... For example, in 1991 and 1992 the chevZ28's with T-tops were not available with the high horse 5.0L and manual trans; T-tops could only be combined with the 205hp 5.0L and auto trans. In my old Pontiac firebird Red book (Peter Sessler) there is no break down, and all my other print sources don't either....
HELP
I am most interested in the '91 and '92 model years.

Thanks guys and I hope I haven't asked a question that has been answered a million times before

Here is some info provided by 92GTA

1992 Firebirds: 27,561 (Euro, Canadian, and U.S. Models Included)

U.S. Only

Convertibles----
Firebird LH0: 454
Firebird L03: 805
Trans Am LB9: 679

HardTop/T-Top----
Firebird LH0: 13,621
Firebird L03: 7,648
Formula LB9: 306
Formula L98: 403
Trans Am LB9: 493
Trans Am L98: 334

The Trans Am numbers under HardTop/T-Top include GTA's, I have not
yet seperated those. Also, Firehawks and 1LE's are not seperated either.

Total U.S. 1992 Firebirds: 24,743
Total Euro and Canadian Firebirds: 2,81..

Check this thread out

As far as I know, LB9 was available with 5 speed and CC1 in '91-'92. Not sure about N10 on LB9 but I think so. Also the same for G92.

The only config in 91-92 for no CC1 was if you had L98 unless it was a Formula with Black GTA wheels.

92GTA and myself are "working" on possibly doing a breakdown by VIN # for '92 TAs for production number for every RPO. That's over 800 cars.

And this brings up a good question, how many 1992 TA guy do we have here and how many would be interested in knowing one of exactly how many cars theirs is, with all their RPOs. We don't have anything solid yet, this is just to guage interest. Anyone interested post up or PM me, we'll see how realistic this may be.

Thanks
Mark

From: Doghouse ······································ Car: 1989 Formula 350 Vert Engine: 350 L98 Transmission: 700R4 Axle/Gears: B&W 3.27
Car: 87 Formula T-Top, 87 Formula HT
Engine: 5.1L TPI, 5.0L TPI
Transmission: 700R4, M5
Axle/Gears: Sag 3.73, B&W 3.45
A breakdown:
87-92 The Trans Am was available with the LB9 & M5 trans and T-tops, every year.
1989 was the only year that T-tops and the 350 were widely offered on the Trans Am, & GTA. The Formula had a T-top 350 option in 1991 & 1992. 1987, 1988 & 1990 T-tops were typically NA with the 350.

If you ordered the "G92" option in 1991 & 1992 this essentially was the 1LE package on the Firebirds, T-tops were again typically Not available with that option as it was intended for off road racing. However the Performance gear ratio was standard on the GTA and Formula when equipped with the 350 & 305/LB9 combo from 87-92. The 5 speed trans was available on the Trans Am convertible in 1991 & 1992, which ONLY came with TPI. However the trans am did not typically come with the performance gear ratio unless it was specially ordered, the only exception was when the Trans Am was to be mated to the 350 in 1991 & 1992.

Unlike the Camaro firebirds did not get the G92 option without the 1LE package. The performance gear ratio may not have been spelled out as a package as neat as "G92" on the GTA & Formula, however they did offer a package called the R6P "Performance ENhancement Group" for the Trans am which was essentially the same as the G92 option on the Camaro. THe Formula and GTA got these features as standard fare and the RPO was not included on the SPID sheet.

Confused? Good

So John, are you saing that t-tops were available with the high horse 305cid and manual trans in '91 and '92 (that is to say the LB9 with N10/dual cats = 230hp) on the trans am model? Where as with the camaro the high horse 305 could only be paired with a hardtop 5spd combination?

From 1987-1992 When equiped with the 305/M5 OR 350
1) All Formulas & GTA's got the Performance gear ratios.
2) From what I can tell, Some years the Trans Am was NA with the performance ratio until 1991, when the P6P package appeared. It may have been available sooner but I have not found evidence of it YET.
3) Several M5/LB9 cars are out there with T-tops in Formulas and GTA's. Since there was nothing specifying in my lit that the R6P option was NA with CC1 T-tops in any form then I would asssume that they should be availble. The only stipulation was that the 350 & T-top options were ONLY available for the Formula in 1991 & 1992 when orderd with the Black Cross lace wheels.

John. What lit are you referencing?
It would be interesting to see if there is anyonw out there who could check their RPO's to see if they have CC1, LB9, and N10 or the R6P options along with MM5.
