About two months ago, I found what I thught was the build sheet under the driver's seat. It was finally warm enough today to pull the seat and get the build sheet. First photo (a bit out of focus) is the seat, pass. side up, showing the sheet under the webbing. The sheet came out in three pieces. The next two are scans of the sheet. Condition is not too bad for hiding under a seat for 25 years

I have an 83 Firebird and the build sheet is not under the seats. I’m hoping its somewhere else. I did find 1/3 of the build sheet from my 82 but its not really readable. Yours looks to be pretty readable and complete. Thats cool.

Well, I don't recall ever seeing an RPO sticker in my car, and I have looked. However I no longer have the original console cover either. It was damaged and replaced years ago when the car was stolen. I am not even sure they put RPO code stickers in the early thridgens.

If you want to know some of the history of your car take a look at this thread

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/hist...-your-car.html

Note however, the service is no longer free and the lady mentioned on the first page is no longer with GM. ( She was a contract employee). If you go to page 5 and look for a message by MrDude1, you will see a thumbnail of what you get.

Further down in the postings? is the new conatct and address for requesting this information. There also is a $50.00 fee to get this information now.

Good Luck if you decide to prusue getting the invoice information.

Yes, it seem to be fairly random where the sheets are put on the cars and how may cars even had one to be found. The scans are not the cleanest, but it is not to hard to read when looking at the sheet. It did take a few hours to tape it all back together again.

That is a very nice find. You're right about the location of the build sheets being random at best(my '70 Monte Carlo SS had one in the springs of the back seat)or not there at all. They were assembly line orders and not required to go with the car once they were completed. You '82 is similarly equipped to my '83.
I don't think they started using the service production stickers(SPID)until sometime in '84 on the F-Body.I need to post the VIN of the one on the underside of the replacement console lid I have.Maybe the owner is a member on here(add to list of things to do).

SPID's didn't come about till 1984. 82-83 cars never had them.

I haven't found mine yet either, nor have I tried. On my 71 chevelle, the build sheet was under the front bench seat on the passenger side. lots of people have been saying that it's under the front seats, however I have heard alot of people have been finding it under the carpet in the hatch area right behind the rear seats.

i found a detriorated beyond beliefe window sticker under the rear seats and carpet a year ago, pissed me off so bad, all that was readable was the dealership, which was a given because theres only one chevrolet dealer in my town, but it was just a huge tease.

In addition the build sheet I found under the driver seat, another one was also found crumpled up behind the rear seats.

Just to verify, my 83 also never came with the SPID under the console lid. I special ordered it from the factory.
