My engine and transmission both have the same, two different VINs stamped on them. One ends in 2214 (which is what matches the VIN on the body) and the other ends in 2184, which is wrong. The check digit in both is 2.

My car is an ‘83 L69 T/A, the only other VIN that calculates out with the correct check digit is a base level Firebird with engine code 7 (L69). Since the base level Firebird was not available with the L69, the second VIN is not only wrong it's also invalid. So this engine and transmission are original to my car.

I'm guessing whoever stamped the VIN at the factory just wasn't paying attention. My car was built on Monday maybe someone was partying to much over the weekend.

Has anybody else encountered something like this?
