It seems like a good price to me. Double check the VIN to make sure it really is a 350. It's been said here a thousand times before, but I'll say it again. Every seller thinks his 305 is a 350. You want to look at the 8th digit in the VIN. Here's a breakdown for you:

8 = L98 350
F = LB9 305
E = LO3 305

Nothing special there except shiny paint. L98+ttops is not unusual for 1989.
The leather isn't original or even a factory option with those seats. I'd say treat it like any other 89 Formula 350.

edit: the price seems fair, assuming it runs and drives fine.

These cars are old enough that even the ones that have been well maintained are going to have problems. I wouldn't expect to get into one and drive it trouble free for long periods of time.

well the only way it could have a map sensor is if it was converted to speed density or if its a 305 tbi cause tpi cars only had map sensor if they were 90+ or unless you meant to type maf sensor instead

Sounds fishy to me. I've never had to remove the pipes to remove a starter from a third-gen.

are you kidding? the exhaust is right in the way, especially if its a larger custom exhaust

Maybe so. (w/ larger custom exhaust). However, no I'm not kidding.

Just changed the starter in my '89 (TPI motor w/stock 2 cat exhaust) Didn't need to remove the pipes. The pipe wasn't even close to being in the way.

Did a '88 friend's TBI 305 Camaro a few years ago. (Stock single cat exhaust) This one was tight, but I was able to remove and replace starter w/no need to remove pipes.

Well it entirely depends which starter is on the car. There were a few different starters used over the years. It depended on whether you had an auto or stick, and on the year. In fact the same engine could use different starters depending on the year. IE: A 92 LB9 auto uses a smaller starter than an 87 LB9 auto, but an L98 from either year uses the same starter. The largest one will not clear the y-pipe.

Re: 2k for 89 formy l98 worth it?
Looks pretty decent, I would consider it personally... I sold an 87 Formula 350 (hard top) that was beat up for $2200... You might be able to turn it for 3000 or 2500...
