What color are the door locks on the 83 T/A, Not the outer cap but the inner piece, with the little door. Is it black or silver?

 

This isn't the best picture, but it does show that they are black, in my 1983 Trans Am.

I believe wildjeff is speaking of the exterior keylock assembly.On my '83 Z28 the lock assembly(outer surround and inner section)are black.Oddly enough the rear hatch lock is all silver and I've seen others('82-'85 but not sure on later)this way.

Itinindian that is a very clean interior.

ok well on my 82 trans am it is all original never been changed and the lock housings are black but not the centers where the key and key door are


hatch one i am unsure even though i unlock it almost every day manually i will have to look you may have to pm me or something if you want to know i may forget or not find this thread again

Thanks for the replies, I’m rebuilding the door locks for my 83 and want to make sure I use the correct style. I debated using the correct key codes but decided not too. Anyone can order a packet with your key codes for PHS, have keys made and drive away. I know, I know, chances are slim to none that will happen, but it make me feel better and I can always change them back if need be.

1tinindian – that’s a nice looking interior, I’m jealous.

On my 82 the inner piece is silver and they are original to the car. I have seen silver on other 82’s also, both firebirds and Camaros.
