Finally Back On The Road
Well, after sitting in the driveway for 4+ years, and messing with it all summer long, I finally got to drive my Camaro to work this morning.
I parked it all those years ago because the tranny was leaking at the TV cable and I didn't feel like removing the trans to fix it. Then I lost interest because I bought a new truck and got into the whole Diesel performance thing.
I pulled the tranny, drilled out the bolt hole for the TV cable and tapped for a slightly larger bolt. I also changed the fluid and filter while the tranny was out of the car. No leaks at all.
There were other issues from it sitting, but nothing too bad. Now it needs some shocks on the back. I think this winter I'll get it painted and maybe some new carpet and upholstery.
Its good to have my girl back though!

Good for you!
My IROC was sitting in the garage for 1 year, rebuilt back end, motor and trans pulled. Lost interest. Last week I rebuilt the drivers side suspension, and yesterday redid the passenger. With new brakes scheduled delivery today I hope to have the steering and suspension installed by Sunday and back on wheels again! Next the motor and trans install.

7 years, that how long my stepfathers z28 has been apart. its a clean car but he stripped it down to the shell. i have lost faith in him ever finishing it. i bought my car partly because i was sick of waiting for him to get his car finished. ha, that didnt work either. i have owned my car for 2 years now. all he ever does is prime it and sand it every 6 months. i needs to buy a clutch to start the reassembly process. right now his car is as good as a parts car. he has a borg warner t56, a 305 HO (stock engine), a 305 TPI, a very nice interior that will go in it. i looked at the registration sticker and 2000 was the last year this car was registered. its just a complete waste and i dont think he's ever going to finish it
. i have alot of great memories of that car. we used to go out to dinner every friday was i was growing up. all summer long we drove the camaro to that friday dinner. he used to pick me up from school with it. i thought it was hot, i loved that car. in fact that car is the reason why i became a third gen rider. i wish he would finish it but i think its pretty much a lost cause.

Re: Finally Back On The Road
i can barely afford to put money into my own car. i dont make much. not to mention im still learning how to do all of this work, and alot of what i know i have learn from my stepfather. he knows alot about old chevys and third gen camaros. i would love to finish the car for him, but it a time, money, and space. i dont really have any of these. i would more than be happy to help him. right now i'm trying to come up with money to build the 350 for my car. my stepfather also tore his car down to a shell. no engine, trans, interior. the car torn down completely. i feel that reassembly is going to be a huge undertaking and not something i would be able to do myself. he also needs a clutch in order to start reassembly. i cannot afford to buy this for him, i wish i could. i wish i could motivate him to finish his car, so we could go on cruises together.
