I have searched and I can only find some pictures of Firebirds and T/As with the chestnut color. I have an 85 Z28 that is painted green but it is chipping and I can see it use to be chestnut, according to my RPO codes it use to be solid Chestnut. I want to know if anybody has any pictures of camaros with the solid chestnut color. Also how rare of a color is this for a 3rd Gen? From what I have read online GM stopped using chestnut early in 85??? Here is a picture of my car.
Anybody???

I think chesnut was only used as the accent color. My 84 trans am's bottom and wheels matched the chesnut color.Originally Posted by 85S10projectz28

I remember a copper color the used in 85 look on your radiator support there should be a tag and it should say something like 19U 19L those are your paint codes 19 is for black so your numbers will be different.
Oh and from what I've read just cause the lower paint code is the same as the upper paint code that doesnt mean the bottom was the same color. like my 19U 19L should mean its a solid black car but it's a black and gold car.

Are you talking about the solid (non-metalic) off-white/beige color? If so, I had one and they seem to be uncommon. Mine was an '84 Z28 with gold gfx and tan interior, I've seen some '85's with the same color combo.

My wife remembers growing up her mother had a brand new 85 or 86 Z28 that was a dark brown, and the lower part was a gold or lighter brown (maybe chestnut?). I am not sure if I have seen a whole car painted that color.
Thats exactly what my color is under the green. It looks something like gold but I found that it was called chestnut. My car has been repainted but you can see the old color where the green is falling off.
