what would it be like if they made it.....
what would it be like if they made it.....
so recently i have begun building a model of a 69 yenko camaro, and i have become quite fascinated with them, looking up their history and such....and then i started thinking.......
if Don Yenko was in good enough shape to design a 3rd gen camaro (unfortunately Mr. Yenko Passed in 1987) what would this camaro look like and how would it perform? we all know his work with the 67-69 camaro's and the 427 h.p. motor and this cars amazingly quick 1/4 mile time, which still rivals some sports cars made nearly 40 years later. it was my belief that this car would have a better suspension package than offered by GM, and a larger motor possibly....but how much larger than a 350? 427 agian? possibly a charged 350?
these are just my ideas and i thought this would be a good thread for any ideas that anyone might have as what could have been made as a yenko camaro for this car.
thanks for hearing my ideas and ilook forward to hearing the ideas from others too

Re: what would it be like if they made it.....
Yenko typically took the largest engine off the shelf for that particular year and put it into a smaller car, the Camaro is the most popular... SO...
Believe it or not you could have gotten a 6.0L in the Medium & Heavy Duity Trucks AND they had a 7.4L (454) in the Light Duity Trucks, AND they had 7.0L For the Heavy & Medium Duity Trucks as early as 1986..
So, What I think Yenko would have probably done would be to take one of those large engines and put it into a Smaller Car IE F-body...
Unforutnately he could not have met EPA regulations...

I think he would have turbo'd a stockish 350. Only because I believe that's what he did with some late second gen Z28's.

that is true about the emmissions and i kind of figured that he would have gotten the biggest motor off the shelf....i have often thought of buying a camaro just to make a 'yenko third gen' and get the yenko decals and such and slap them on....i thought it would be neat but wayyy too much money for me lol
