my wife and i have a 1988 gta notchback all original fully loaded 41,ooo miles in mint condition! We bought it from my aunts boyfriend (original owner) he blew the motor and i bought it dirt cheap!!! was going to put my motor out of my prostock circle track car but he told me it was one of roughly 620 cars. i am going to rebuild the motor he just spun a couple of bearings.. just wondered if any one knew anything about it being a rare car ?

In regard to GTA Notchbacks, according to Pontiac, there was 718 in 1988. You can see a copy of the letter from Pontiac to another Notchback owner posted on my website: http://www.gtanotchback.com

The Notchback was a 1-year only option, available only on the GTA. Outside of the unique fiberglass hatch, and integrated headrests in the rear seats that only the 1989 Turbo Trans AM also had used, it really is just GTA model with an appearance package.
