Re: my new 89 firebird rpo help

The digital dash was an option on the GTA and Trans AM. It was not available on the base Firebird or Formula. In 1988 the digital dash equipped GTAs accounted for slightly over 50% of the units. Meaning it was not exactly rare or uncommon, atleast not in 1988.

Re: my new 89 firebird rpo help

I think the last year for the Digital dash should have been 1988, same as the Overhead console. I believe it had a lot to do with problems with the Dash checking out. I had a 1990 Riviera with essentially the exact same chip, jsut different layout that blanked out... On top of all of it you could not get repair chips for it to get it working again...

The link below has a great RPO decoder. It lists just about all the RPO codes. (Scroll down a ways to find the decoder... It allows batch entry).

http://www.camarosource.ca/php/camar...p?act=decoding

Your ZV1 code shows as: STATEMENT OF ORIGIN MANUFACTURE

According to my research my source states that there were no "Electronic Gages" made for either the Camaro or Firebird in 1989...

It could be wrong however...
